Examination

The first thing needed to find a solution is to identify the problem. We begin with a case history, followed by a comprehensive exam assessing either movement (body) or functional neurological capacity (brain).

Your exam findings will help your doctor determine if you need Brain or Body Care.

  • Focusing on your brain health means we take an approach utilizing neurological rehab.
  • Focusing on body health means we take an approach utilizing physical rehab.

Because we are a collaborative care clinic, we utilize multiple modalities for best outcomes depending on what your exam results show.

Action Plan

After your exam, we put together a solution for you. This comes in the form of an action plan that’s unique to you, and it’s usually a combination of these treatments:

Tissue Therapy at Lifestream Brain & Body Clinic is performed by licensed massage therapists.

Our clinical & therapeutic approach combines this therapy with others for long-lasting results and relief – so don’t expect a fun, spa-like experience. Our therapists work closely with our doctors, and other providers when needed, to tailor their approach for what you need to best increase your mobility and reduce pain and discomfort.

We often provide take-home exercises so you can work on things at home to help retrain your body to have correct movement patterns and avoid dysfunctional movement, which can lead to pain.

Our functional rehab is less focused on stretching and strengthening exercises and more on moving properly. Approaching rehabilitation this way allows us to focus more on how the nervous system is coordinating your movement and how you can best retrain your movement habits. This helps restore or correct existing issues and prevents future improper use, which can lead to chronic pain.

At Lifestream Brain + Body Clinic, we take a functional neurology approach to care. We utilize vestibular rehab, soft tissue therapies, neuro-visual training, neuro-cognitive training, brain based adjusting, kinesiology taping, balance training, autonomic training, low level laser, and many other treatments. All of these are layered based on patient presentation and response during rehab. Check out our Brain Care drop-down page for more information!

Who can benefit from low-level laser therapy? Almost everyone! Unlike traditional surgery or medication, low-level laser therapy (LLLT) promotes natural healing within the body using non-invasive levels of light. The treatment features no adverse side effects, no pain, and no downtime, allowing patients to heal quickly from a range of painful chronic conditions.

Oftentimes, people tell us they’ve heard of, or even experienced, laser therapy. Typically, they’re referring to a different type of heat-oriented laser, which causes a burning sensation and discomfort to the skin during and after sessions. In contrast, our FDA market-cleared low-level lasers (often referred to as “cold” lasers) cannot be felt at all. This is truly painless and sensationless to the skin, while working on a cellular level to reduce inflammation, remove pain, and regenerate the cells.

Results

We are research-driven and results-focused. As you put your plan into action by getting the recommended treatments and doing the at-home exercises we provide you with, your health will begin to improve. We’ll schedule a re-examination in the first month or two of your care with us to assess your progress, celebrate your victories and make any other recommendations you need at that time based on our exam findings.

Most patients enter care with an Acute Care issue. Once we work through that, we're able continue to see you intermittently as you choose to schedule, or more preventatively on one of our convenient monthly care plans.

Training Regimen

12 Training Days

Training sessions are 45 minutes in length* consisting of 25 minutes of training on the Senaptec station and 20 minutes of training with our coaches in movement drills. The difficulty will increase based on progress of the athlete.** Group sessions are modified to provide equal training opportunities for each participant.***

2 Assessment Days

Assessment days are an integral piece of the training regimen and are spaced evenly throughout the program. Training will begin with an initial assessment to determine the athlete's baseline, followed by a progress assessment in the middle of the program (after Session 7).

1 Final Assessment

All training days culminate with a final assessment, which determines the athlete's overall success achieved in the course. This and all assessments are done on our state-of-the-art Senaptec Training Station.

*Length of sessions will vary based on multi-athlete training programs.
**Difficulty will be based on data collected and observed progress.
***We welcome groups of 2-3 registering together, but we don't offer athlete matching for group formation.
